Tip(ful) Tuesday: What Wear When You Are Breastfeeding
Tuesday, November 3, 2009
In preparation for breastfeeding I purchased four nursing bras and received one nursing tank as a gift. I was so focused on the undergarments that I completely forgot about tops. I didn't need to worry at first because the weather was still warm when I gave birth, so I just wore tank tops. Then it got cooler, and the idea of exposing my bare skin to the frigid air sent me running to the department store.
But when I got there I was clueless about what to buy...flannel button-downs, long-sleeved scoop necks, cardigans? Confused, I left without buying anything. I mentioned my dilemma to my pastor who shared this awesome tip with me: buy men's tank-style undershirts to wear over your nursing bra and under your top. When you need to nurse your baby, just lift up or un-button your shirt and pull your boob through the extra-large arm holes of the men's tank. Now you have a cover-up layer between you and the elements (and curious onlookers).

I hardly went anywhere where I would have to breast-feed my son in public for this reason.
Where were you 6 years ago LOL?
Hi Teresha, Congrats on being a new mom to Marlie, who is so beautiful. I am your T.H.A.N.K.S. swap partner. I emailed you but it came back 2 times. Could you please send me an email about your likes and dislikes and what you do for thanksgiving, you know, all that good stuff? I would really appreciate it. I hope you are enjoying motherhood. It is so fulfilling most of the time. Hugs, Linda gypsyluv1010@gmail.com
That's funny. Don't they make shirts with hidden snaps for nursing mothers any more? I had great shirts that hid the snaps under a little flap with the pocket or beside a pleat. All that had to come out was my breast and I had a blanket that wrapped around my shoulder and Alyssa. I was VERY self-conscious about having my breasts seen in public, so I promise no was showing :o) Love the photo. Where is it?
I frequently wear tank tops too! After almost 14 years of nursing I go everywhere and do everything! It is just such a part of my life!
I did this, too! :)
