Soapbox Saturday: I HATE Baby Commercials!
Saturday, June 26, 2010
I never understood why some parents are so neurotic until I started paying attention to commercials for baby products. You know the ones with the perfect babies...plump, flawless skin, head full of hair, rosy red cheeks, eyes that twinkle and wide smiles sporting at least two front teeth. They are also perfect babies because their mommies use Brand X baby food and diapers. The subliminal message being that your baby will be perfect too if you just use this lotion. I hate this one most of all...
So if I just bathed my baby in Johnson's Bedtime Bath that she will peacefully drift to sleep at night without engaging in her usual fight to the death? I better run out and buy me some of that!

Ha! I totally agree but I feel that way about almost all of the commercials these days. Great post!
Ha! Let me know if it works!
I hate that one too, because guess what? That stupid lotion made my baby break out, and thus, made her sleep worse!
Too funny! I can't listen to the sound as my baby is laying on me, sleeping - restlessly. I wonder how long they had to wait to get that baby to sleep. I doubt V would fall asleep on a television set. She'd just get deliriously tired, which might make for a good ADHD medication commercial...
Ha! you know how many times I've went out and brought some lavendar something, thinking my baby would sleep all night. I learned real quick. At baby number 1
If only it would work...
Those commercials frustrate me too!
Yeah, I use the bedtime lotion sometimes and the powder but the soap/shampoo leaves Nellie feeling all greasy.. Soooo... Boo on it!
What? They didn't teach you about that in one of your Lamaze classes? :P
I LOVE the smell of the original Johnson's Baby Bath Soap and Lotion. YUM! I used it with all my babies. But I've got news for them. Not one of my babies slept through the night until....heck, I don't remember when. Morgan just turned 18 and she hasn't slept through the night a day in her life! LOL! Like mother, like daughter.
Hope you're having a wonderful weekend. Is it as hot in your part of the world as it is in mine?? I'm SO ready for fall!!

I'm so glad you finally found a solution to the sleeping problem. LOL LOL
Ha! I use that stuff and uh yeah - no peaceful drifting off to sleep immediately after bath. I just like the smell!
