Forgive Me Baby Girl

Dear Daughter,
About 12 years from now we are going to have our first major verbal altercation. It will go something like this...
me: Marlie, you are not leaving the house in that outfit. go change into something more appropriate for your age.
you: but Moooooom, all the other girls are wearing this. it's the styyyyyle.
me: I don't care what all the other girls are wearing. I'm not their mother...I only care what you look like. go change.
you: you are being unfair!
me: tough cookies. life isn't fair. go change!
you (running toward you room): you just don't want me to grow up! (slams bedroom door)
I am going to ask for your forgiveness from now because you are right...I don't want you to ever grow up.

I think this is a scene every woman and teenage girl can relate to...at least you have a few years before it happens!
I've had that conversation. And will have to two more times....I have 3 daughters ages 14, 10, and 8. So I have a lot of this to look forward to. Lucky me.
Honestly though it wasn't that bad. So don't worry to much about it.
Oh...it will get more debated than that, but they do learn, it's part of being independant! Something we want for our children, but hope that maybe the will rely on us just a little longer!
Great post,
stop by mine if you have a chance

Awww! I am NOT looking forward to those conversations either! At least we know they will eventually get over it! (We did!)
Stopping by from MamaKat's!
Aw! Get ready! Or she might be a vary modest girl. My oldest is modest but I have one more to go. yikes!!!
I don't look forward to those days. have you SEEN the girls section at the stores. WOW. I'm going to have to make Abby's clothes.
Great post!
That is so sweet and so true. My oldest is 11 and we are just entering the phase of life being unfair. I don't want my kids to grow up either!
I also anticipate this scene with my daughter in the future. Some days, I think she's already practicing that teen attitude. LOL. They do grow up way too fast.
