What I'm Watching on #Netflix

Tuesday, August 2, 2011

This week's picks from my Netflix Instant Watch Library or mail queue:

TV Show:
Seasons 3 and 4 of The Tudors chronicles the rapid decline of Great Britain's most infamous monarch Henry VIII of the Tudor dynasty. His majesty's health is deteriorating, he is going through wives like napkins, and unrest in his court troubles him deeply. He is hell bent on securing his legacy and uniting his country under one church, but his attempts only create more divisions. This miniseries is a jewel in the crown of historical fiction.

Movie:
3 Idiots is a Bollywood movie that tells a touching story about love and friendship. Three roommates on the campus of a prestigious engineering college in India become best friends and support each other through trials and triumphs (and outwitting the school's mean director). The musical interludes sometimes come off as cheesy High School Musical dance productions, but the music is good listening. I laughed and cried happy tears during this spirited comedy. I also really enjoyed the beautiful cinematography of India's cities, coastal towns and rural areas that is rarely seen in the West.

Teresha I absolutely love Bollywood films. They are clean, romantic, and the mysterious windblown look indoors kills me every time. They know how to write some great story lines too! Thanks for the recommend.

My best, Lynn

I don't really make time for movies, but maybe when the kids are a bit older and more self-involved, Hubs and I will subscribe to Netflix. It seems to be the way to go...

Hi, how are you? :) I'm back around for good, hopefully.

LOOOOVE the Tudors and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers too (ever since Bend it Like Beckham, cheesey, I know!); I feel so bad about his real-life struggles with addictions.

I have wanted to sit down and get into the Tudors. I love this genre and Jonathan Rhys Meyers doesn't hurt the eyes. Also, I have a growing affection for Bollywood and saw this preview. Now, the challenge is finding time when Shaune is away - because he would just roll his eyes at my choices. If it isn't action drama, he's against it.

I've heard of Tudors but never seen it! I think the main is completely hot!

I had been so excited about Tudors, but really did not enjoy the first episode, so never watched anymore. Does it get a lot better?
