Skin recounts the true story of a Sandra Laing, a colored girl born to white parents in South Africa's apartheid era. Her parents fight for her to be classified as white in the nation's registry so she can enjoy the same privileges as a white citizen. But as Sandra grows older she discovers that her appearance makes it impossible to be accepted by white society. She is forced to choose between her parent's protective care and her black lover. After 20 years of not fitting in, she finally finds emotional freedom.

I watch the show on spike sometimes. Its interesting to me.

I watched Skin last year. Interesting story.
Dont' think i've ever heard of skin but sounds interesting! oh the hubby and i have watched episodes of 1000 ways to die...and it's so creepy you can't help but watch it!
Wow, my husband would love that first one and I would love Skin! What a predicament to be in. Sometimes being adopted by white folks, I feel this struggle inside that they think I'm like them. I have to fight to remind them that I'm not.
Okay, morbid curiosity requires that I watch the first. Then I will be paranoid of all sorts of things! As a child, I spent months walking around in fear of spontaneously combusting after watching an episode about such things on That's Incredible. I'm curious about the 2nd. There was one Disney (I believe) movie for tweens where a South African white female exchange student gets placed with a black American family. Other than that, I haven't seen any movies that deal with South Africa's racial prejudice. I did see Hotel Rwanada, which deals with different African racial prejudice, but that's all that immediately comes to mind. It is late though and maybe I'm just too out of it????
