Toddler Log: 2 Years and 12 Weeks Old

Sunday, November 6, 2011

Marlie and Me had appointments with the dentist this week. I was worried that I had pregnancy gingivitis because my gums had been bleeding, but the dentist gave me the all clear. Marlie was wonderful at her appointment. She let them brush her teeth and do the oral exam without any fuss. The dentist declared she had perfect teeth...all 20 of them! I don't know when those 2nd-year molars sneaked in, but she has all of her baby teeth. I was so proud of her for being such a trooper that we celebrated with ice cream later that night!

The night-waking continues and now she is climbing out of her crib and coming into our room. Do you know how freaky it is to wake up in the middle of the night and see a tiny shadowy figure at the foot our your bed mumbling, "mommy, daddy?" It's like something out of The Omen.

We still have our 3 year old in our bed at night and I am fed up because we only have a queen!

But yay for a clean bill of teeth help! Aiden hates anyone near his mouth so its not so easy to get in there.

When Abby went through the night waking (not that it doesn't happen anymore, but it's a lot better) we just had to be persistent and put her back in bed.

She would make up all sorts of excuses.

They do outgrow it eventually...LOL

Oh goodness, that is too funny about her waking you! Congrats on the good check-ups. My older kids always had good check-ups and I took it for granted that Miss V would also. Her teeth are horrid. She just got her two-year molars at age 3, but is missing three teeth that just kind of disintegrated while we were at Disneyland. She has already had more cavities than I have had in my entire life!

Nightwalking??? I thought I had my hands full when Deaglan had night terrors. I'm not sure which would be worse. And I can't believe her molars "snuck" in. Naveen's molars have come in loud and clear with lots of sleeplessness, crying, crankiness, diaper rash - you name it!

See! That's exactly what I'm afraid of: Nia's in a climbing stage and I know that she will climb outta of her crib and suddenly appear in our room in the middle of the night like a horror movie. I did this to my mom as a child - she was vacuuming and I escaped. All she saw was a shadow out the corner of her eye go by and it freaked her out. I feel like I will be receiving payback for this soon . . .
