The Kids Are Alright #WordfulWednesday (PHOTOS)

Wednesday, May 8, 2013

The sporadic posts are driving me crazy! I miss blogging but this mama is busy trying to get a job, which is a full-time job. The bad news is that I am still unemployed. I didn't get that job I was interviewing for. The good news is that I have an interview with another organization next week, one better aligned with my experience and interests. Say a little pray for me! Once I am settled into working, I am going to figure this blog thing out. Meantime, I wanted to share some recent photos and updates of the kiddos. They are blossoming like spring buds.

Marlie is busy with preschool, gymnastics, and working her parents last nerve. She has added some new gear to her Terrifying Threes toolbox included stomping with her arms crossed, staying up until 10 pm every night, calling her daddy stupid, and telling me she hates me. Oh, that last one cut me deep like a stabbing to the heart. I didn't go off on her or punish her because she was obviously repeating something she heard and wanted to see my reaction. I don't believe she is fully aware of the emotional consequences of that word. I responded like any other time she says something that is not nice. I didn't want to overreact and unintentionally give that word power less she start using it on a regular basis as a weapon to hurt people.

Desmond has finally stopped crying when I drop him off at his class. This is a huge milestone. It is also wonderful to and see him smiling when I pick him up. He has two more teeth coming in and he's been using his chompers to pick a chicken leg clean and bite all of us. He's been capitalizing on being the baby of the family. He likes upsies and following his sister around. She sometimes indulges him by letting him play pretend with her like rocket ship or mailman.

We've been taking advantage of the sunny California weather every weekend...sightseeing in San Francisco and backyard pool parties!

i am so happy to read that the kids are doing great. They are so tall and the weather is so nice. We are getting some sun but nothing too hot to have backyard pool :)

I am so sorry Marlie is getting some words from other kids. I know that children pick words from the playground or school.

I was at the playground the other day and AOI {17 months} heard someone saying 'sucker' and she repeated the word. I had to tell that kid's parent to tell his son to not say it.

I am glad you didn't overreact. Great example for us all.

None of my kids ever told me that they hated me, thankfully. I'm not sure I could have kept my cool as well as you did. I'm glad they're both doing well and you're enjoying sunshine! Sending thoughts and prayers your way for the job interview!

2 of 4 of my kids (including my youngest) have told me they hated me, and the other two I'm sure thought it at some point. ;)

That's okay, I know they love me. :)

Good luck finding full-time work!

The site seeing sounds fun, and the pool party was rocking. :)

Keeping you in my prayers, I always wish that I can keep my children from picking up hurtful words, but we can't always block their ears. Great advice about not giving that word power.

My Sydkid is five and when she tells me she doesn't love me any more..I brush it off and tell her "that's okay I'll love you always and you will love mommy again tomorrow, just watch."

It totally throws her off and she gets this quiet, thoughtful look on her face..and we continue on. I'm not going to pretend that the first time she said it I wasn't cut to the core though...if you treat it lightheartedly, so will she. And it will pass.

Good luck on your job search!

I'm sending you positive you are hired vibes my friend! Great photos. Deaglan and Naveen tell us they hate us when they're angry too. I don't have a clue what it means but I just tell them that it hurts my feelings when they say mean things.

Your husband is very handsome!!

Wow they are getting so big! You should post more pictures of the city, I LOVE seeing them. Of course, with your kids in them too LOL.

Oh and thank you for the picture of your hubby in the tank top ;)

Did you have your interview yet?
